Southwest PGA Foundation Collaborates at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open
For the fifth consecutive year, the Southwest PGA Foundation collaborated with veteran and PGA professional volunteers to manage the Practice Facilities during the 2025 WM Phoenix Open. Organizing any event can be a monumental task, but with the invaluable support of our Veterans and PGA professionals, it became a manageable challenge.
For an entire week, the practice facilities at the WM Phoenix Open were meticulously attended to by a dedicated volunteer corps organized by the Southwest PGA Foundation. Through seamless coordination with Matt Williamson, PGA Director of Golf at TPC Scottsdale, and his team, the volunteer corps ensured that the facilities kept in top shape during “The Greatest Show on Turf!”

Matt expressed his gratitude, saying, “Having Veterans actively participate in organizing and managing the practice facilities for the entire week is a significant relief for my staff. While we collaborate, it’s up to our volunteers to alleviate the burden while hosting one of the PGA Tour’s most exciting events.”
Michael Haywood, Executive Director of the Southwest PGA Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to serving the community. He highlighted the PGA professionals’ tangible impact on the economic value of golf in Arizona and Southern Nevada, citing statistics such as 16.6 million rounds of golf played and the fact that visitors who engage in the sport spend 2.9 times more than general tourists. The rounds and dollars go through our nearly 400 facilities. All managed by a PGA professional like the ones who volunteered this week.
The WM Phoenix Open has always been a monumental event for the vibrant Phoenix metropolitan area. The Foundation is fortunate to have our Veterans and professionals participate, and we deeply appreciate the PGA Tour’s charitable donation in recognition of their efforts.
